We are Piikani– one of the three tribes who make up the Blackfoot Confederacy – speakers of the Blackfoot language and knowledge keepers of our Blackfoot culture, history, governance, territory, and ceremonial practises. Through Piikanisini, we instill our Piikani cultural values and ways of knowing sacred ceremony, membership in society, kinship protocols, and name-giving. Through Piikanisini, we promote our traditional customs of songs, dance, games. As Piikani, we are unique and distinct in our beliefs and interactions with others in the world. As Piikani, our governance system was/is traditionally practised within our sacred ceremonies.
