Summary of Position

The Peigan Board of Education requires an Assistant Cook for PBOE’s Lunch Program. The assistant school cook will need to accurately and efficiently cook meats, vegetables, soups, and other hot food products as well as assist in preparation of cold food items. As part of the cooking process, daily tasks will be expected to be effectively completed in order to provide a healthy breakfast and lunch to the school population. This includes, but is not limited to, daily cleaning, kitchen organization, daily forms, storage, preparation, cooking and service of the daily planned meals.


  • Must possess Alberta Food Handling Certificate (updated every two years).
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in kitchen preparation and cooking.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with Principal, staff, students, and Head
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to prepare food for up to three hundred fifty people on a daily
  • Must adhere to PBOE COVID-19 interim policies
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot Language & Culture

Position: Receptionist – 1 year term Peigan Board of Education is seeking to hire a reliable individual who will be responsible to manage the board office front desk on a daily basis and who will perform a variety of administrative and clerical support across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Greet people entering the office;
  • Answer questions and direct visitors to appropriate people or services;
  • Answer, screen and forward telephone calls, take messages and provide information;
  • Update and maintain a calendar of office events as the front desk;
  • Accept messenger and courier deliveries – Purolator, DHL and others
  • Perform clerical duties such as word processing, compiling and recording data, maintaining front desk files and inventories, operating office equipment, proof reading, stuffing envelopes;
  • Sort and distribute fax correspondence (including faxes and electronic mail);
  • Order and maintain office supplies;
  • Operate and troubleshoot office equipment such as fax machines, photocopiers, voice mail messaging systems and computer scanning equipment;
  • Assist other staff members, in a friendly and positive learner environment, in learning new electronic and technical office devices and equipment;
  • Assist in managing events and taking responsibility of presentation table at open house and other such events;
  • Other duties that may be directed by the Administrations Officer.

Education & Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma; additional certification in Office Administration preferential
  • Minimum of one year work experience as a receptionist or similar role
  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Intervention Check
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Blackfoot Language & Culture
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite and office equipment
  • Professional attitude and appearance
  • Ability to work independently
  • Demonstrates a high degree of verbal and written communication skills

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Observe student behaviour and provide information to teacher(s);
  • Attend program-planning meetings upon teacher(s) request;
  • Within the scope of EA professional qualifications, suggest courses of action for a teacher(s) to follow;
  • Assist in preparing materials, creating displays and undertaking other supportive activities;
  • Work within established structures, including classroom management structures, behavioural rules and IPP expectations;
  • Clarify elements of the lesson for students who are having trouble;
  • Supervise reinforcement activities;
  • Implement specific techniques, strategies and language as directed by the teacher;
  • Document, monitor and report to the teacher;
  • Collect data for use in student evaluation;
  • Mark objective tests for the teacher to review;
  • Report to teachers on students’ strengths, achievements and needs;
  • Report to teachers on observed student behaviours and outcomes;
  • Keep up to date on school, district and provincial policies;
  • Advise teachers about the degree to which the program structure promotes or inhibits the best use of the educational assistant’s skills.


  • High School Diploma and related post-secondary education
  • A satisfactory police information check which includes the Vulnerable Sector Check;
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check;
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot/Piikani Language & Culture an asset.
