Announcing the Availability of the Following Full Time Position: Finance Technician

Summary of Position:

The Finance Technician is responsible for a wide variety of administrative accounting tasks involving data entry, reconciling bank statements, handling the accounts payables and receivables, assisting with year-end audit procedures and generating a variety of financial reports for the Finance Department.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accounts receivable and accounts payable records, ledgers and journals;
  • Processes expense payments incurred by PBOE;
  • Processes and prepares accounts payable and receivable for payment and enters data into QuickBooks accounting software; checks for accuracy, prints and mails cheques, update employee payroll records as needed;
  • Ensure cheque signing and distribution process is adhered to and monitored;
  • Receives cash and other incoming payments from PBOE operations – excluding major funding and proposal based funding, prepares and issues receipts, makes bank deposits;
  • Maintains accounts payable and receivable records and files;
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability and wages;
  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information;
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests; maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes;
  • Researches inquiries regarding purchase orders, requisitions, payments and other accounting issues;
  • Audits vendor cheques for proper amounts, duplication or other errors;
  • Liaise with all department managers to provide financial information support;
  • Maintain employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential:
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed;
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Business Administration Diploma preferred,
  • Must have 2-3 years of direct work experience in a bookkeeping & payroll function;
  • Consideration of acceptable combination of education which includes at least 2 post-secondary accounting courses and progressively responsible experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of QuickBooks financial software;
  • Clean criminal record and intervention checks;
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot/Piikani Language & Culture an asset.

Job Position

Under the direction of the Principal, the Security Monitor is responsible for providing daily security for the school building and property and ensures the safety and security of students, staff, building and grounds. This position patrols school property and alerts Administration of all safety and security concerns. The Security Monitor responds to emergencies, intervenes in interpersonal conflicts, and directs students and staff in crisis situations.

Duties & Responsibilities::

  • Monitors and patrols school building, grounds and property during school hours; (50% of time)
  • Monitors for vandalism, theft and trespassing on school property;
  • Informs school administration of unauthorized personnel on campus;
  • Secures school building entrances, exits and appropriate offices;
  • Monitors for student truancy;
  • Monitors students for drug, alcohol and tobacco use;
  • Monitors hallways and bathrooms for improper student behavior;
  • Informs students of inappropriate behavior;
  • Intervenes in interpersonal conflicts on school property;
  • Informs involved parties of rules and consequences of when school policy is being broken;
  • Escorts students to appropriate school staff when necessary;
  • Determines safety or security issues and reports the issues to school administrators;
  • Assists in identifying students who may need special monitoring or assistance due to discipline issues or personal problems;
  • Works closely with and through building administrators concerning student behavioral issues and policy interpretations;
  • Compiles information and completes associated reports;
  • Submits reports to school administrators;
  • Provides details of incidents to police when required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Security Experience / Certification preferable
  • Clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot Language and Culture

Summary of Position

The Kitchen Manager works closely with the Lead Cook, kitchen assistant, and school staff to ensure smooth operations of the school kitchen. The kitchen manager will administer and implement the PBOE food service program in accordance with Alberta food safety laws and requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities::

  • Provides direction to kitchen staff, ensuring execution of all employee duties
  • Monitors kitchen operations to ensure compliance health and safety regulations
  • Ensures compliance with food handling requirements and standards
  • Implements and manages the PBOE food service operations manual and procedures
  • Completes the duties of a line cook when needed and is capable of performing the duties of all kitchen positions
  • Ensures products are stored at the correct temperatures and the recipe books are up to date with current menu items, portions and ingredients
  • Ensures the utilization of daily prep sheets and that product counts are recorded accurately daily. Carries out the weekly inventory ordering process
  • Anticipates, identifies and corrects any issues with inventory, systems and staffing
  • Communicate effectively with staff, students and supervisors on a daily basis.
  • Ensures kitchen staff maintain a clean and sanitary work station areas: including tables, shelves, grills, fryers, burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.
  • Ensures kitchen staff follows proper portion expectations and plate presentation for all dishes.
  • Handles, stores and rotates all products properly.
  • Closes the kitchen ensuring equipment is properly taken care of during off hours. Reports equipment issues to O&M manager and supervisor.
  • Attends all scheduled employee meetings.
  • Perform any other specific tasks or duties that has been assigned by the principal.

Education & Experience:

  • Must possess Alberta Food Handling Certificate (updated every two years).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in kitchen preparation, cooking and hospitality related experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of manager or leadership experience

Qualifications:

  • Comfortable using a computer and knowledge of Microsoft office applications
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot Language and Culture
  • Must provide a clean criminal record check and child welfare intervention check
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with Principal, staff, students, and Assistant Cook.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to prepare food for up to three hundred fifty people on a daily basis.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Observe student behaviour and provide information to teacher(s);
  • Attend program-planning meetings upon teacher(s) request;
  • Within the scope of EA professional qualifications, suggest courses of action for a teacher(s) to follow;
  • Assist in preparing materials, creating displays and undertaking other supportive activities;
  • Work within established structures, including classroom management structures, behavioural rules and IPP expectations;
  • Clarify elements of the lesson for students who are having trouble;
  • Supervise reinforcement activities;
  • Implement specific techniques, strategies and language as directed by the teacher;
  • Document, monitor and report to the teacher;
  • Collect data for use in student evaluation;
  • Mark objective tests for the teacher to review;
  • Report to teachers on students’ strengths, achievements and needs;

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and related post-secondary education

  • Knowledge of Blackfoot/Piikani Language & Culture an asset.
