Public Notice Effective February 14 2022 Cohorts Will No Longer Be in Effect

PUBLIC NOTICE – EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 14, 2022 – COHORTS WILL NO LONGER BE IN EFFECT

ALL ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WILL BE ATTENDING TOGETHER

Although various COVID-19 restrictions have changed in Alberta, PBOE will continue with its masking and isolation mandates for PNSS/NPES schools and all PBOE buses.

DO NOT send your child to school if they are showing ANY symptoms of illness. Your child will be sent home if they show symptoms of ANY illness at school or on the bus.

DO NOT send your child to school if you, the child or anyone living in the same home are waiting for the results of a COVID-19 test.

RUNNY NOSE, CONGESTION, COUGH, SORE THROAT, FEVER, CHILLS & HEADACHE are symptoms of illness school staff will watch for in students.

The 2nd Rapid Test Kits will be distributed to students on February 14, 2022. If you did not receive your 1st or 2nd kit, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher.

If your child tests positive from the Rapid Test Kit, please contact:
AKHS COVID Centre (587-421-2002).

Be advised:

  • IF a COVID-19 outbreak occurs in the school, in your child’s classroom, or on the bus, it could result in closures:
  • School Closure – Significant #of staff and significant #of students
  • Classroom Closure – Teacher unable to be in classroom; students would return to on-line learning.
  • Bus Closure – Bus Driver unable to drive bus; students would return to on-line learning.

Will reopen as per cohort schedule below:

  • NPES COHORT A: JANUARY 31, 2022
  • PNSS ALL STUDENTS: JANUARY 24, 2022

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO SCHOOL IF THEY ARE SHOWING ANY OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS: RUNNY NOSE, CONGESTION, COUGH, SORE THROAT, FEVER OR CHILLS.

Your child will be sent home from school if any of these symptoms appear on bus or at school.

If you are waiting for test results, DO NOT send your child to school.

PBOE strongly recommends that you have your child vaccinated to stop the spread of Covid in schools.

CoVid Response for Education

Due to high number of active Covid cases in Piikani Nation,  PBOE schools will be closed to students and  busses will not be operating the weeks of  January 10-14, 2022, January 17-21, 2022.

This includes busses to/from Pincher Creek  and Fort Macleod.

On-Line Learning will begin:
NPES Wednesday January 5, 2022
PNSS Monday January 10, 2022

At-Home Learning Packages
will be delivered to students on
Tuesday, January 11, 2022 (Start time: 11am)

School Re-entry Notice as of December 30, 2021

Napi’s Playground Elementary School and Piikani Nation Secondary School  will follow Alberta Education’s decision to delay school re-entry to January 10, 2022.

A follow-up public notice will be provided by Friday, January 7, 2022.

School COVID 19 and Routine Vaccination Clinic

Students ages 12+ are invited and encouraged to receive their 1st and 2nd doses of COVID 19 vaccine.
Routine vaccinations will also be offered.

Students must have a signed consent form from their legal guardian to receive vaccinations.
Consent forms available at PNSS.

PBOE SCHOOLS WILL CONTINUE WITH  ON-LINE LEARNING SEPTEMBER 20 – OCTOBER 1, 2021

PBOE SCHOOLS WILL CONTINUE WITH  ON-LINE LEARNING SEPTEMBER 20 – OCTOBER 1, 2021
At-home learning packages will be delivered  Tuesday, Sept 21 and Tuesday, September 28.

PBOE SCHOOLS WILL REOPEN AS OF MONDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2021

COHORTS WILL BE IN EFFECT: K5 – GRADE 6 STUDENTS.

As Piikani Nation Covid19 cases remain high, PBOE is ensuring that all precautions are being taken to have students return safely to school.  PBOE will follow Alberta Education’s guideline to cohort K5-Grade 6 students.  Grades 7 – 12 will not be cohorting and will resume regular classes.  K4 will not be cohorting; classes will resume on a Monday to Thursday schedule.

A reminder: If your child/ren have one or more Covid symptoms (coughing, sneezing, fever, headaches, chills or other flu-like symptoms – please keep your child/ren at home until symptoms end. PBOE recommends that your child/ren also book an appointment for a Covid test. Any child/ren who attends school with these symptoms will be required to return home.

Wear a mask on the bus and at school.
Hand sanitize.
Keep our Piikani Nation safe.

In the event that PBOE Schools or Transportation is notified of a positive case in schools or on the bus, PBOE will determine whether operations will continue.
