Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assumes all duties and responsibilities of the regular teacher in a given day;
  • Follows lessons plans provided by classroom teacher to facilitate appropriate learning experiences for students;
  • Maintains appropriate records in the absence of the teacher;
  • Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings;
  • Communicates and interacts with students, staff, parents and the community as necessary;
  • Ensures all materials are read and prepared for instruction;
  • Monitors and evaluates student outcomes;
  • Develops, selects and modifies instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students;
  • Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social and emotional development of children;
  • Maintains appropriate records in the absence of the teacher and follows required procedures and practices;
  • Monitors appropriate use and care of equipment, materials and facilities.

Qualifications & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Education degree;
  • Alberta Teaching Certificate;
  • A satisfactory police information check which includes the Vulnerable Sector Check;
  • A satisfactory Intervention Record Check;
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot/Piikani Language & Culture an asset.
