2020/2021 School Re-Entry Plan
2020/2021 School Re-Entry Plan
Oki. Since March 12, 2020 and in response to COVID19 global pandemic, our Piikani Nation
students have continued learning through an at-home learning model. Students are being
provided with at-home learning packages, on-line learning activities, and supports from their
teachers and school staff. I want to thank both parents and school staff for supporting this
activity and would like to assure you that PBOE is looking forward to students returning for the
2020-2021 school year. We miss our Piikani students and on a daily basis send thoughtful
prayers to your families!
The upcoming school year may look different than it has in previous years. Prior to start up,
PBOE is engaging with Alberta Education to ensure that the safety of students and staff is a
priority. The school re-entry plan for K-12 schools considers three scenarios for September:
- Normal operations
- Schools are open for classes with some health restrictions that affect operations.
- Schools remain closed for classes — at-home learning continues.
Alberta Education May 11, 2020
As all Alberta Schools await further information from Alberta Education, PBOE and school staff
is preparing for all three scenarios. Alberta Education will inform schools no later than August 1,
2020 what the expected start date will be (keeping in mind that at any time — and due to COVID19
pandemic — changes may occur for students and staff). It will be an exciting time to have our
students back in school with our main goal of keeping them safe. Once Alberta Education makes
the announcement, PBOE will inform parents/guardians of the scenario which best suits Piikani
Nation at that time.
